2009 FIELD CROP EXHIBITS

State Aid to Fair

Through enabling act 1122, passed during the regular session of the 1969 Legislature, the Agriculture Center Board is co-sponsor of this year’s National Peanut Festival and Fair and pays a portion of the premiums, prizes and awards listed in the program.

General Rules and Regulations

1.  All entries, including perishables, must be brought to the field crop display area on Wednesday, October 28, 2009   

     between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.

 

2.  Persons needing help to deliver entries to the field crop display area should call a chairman in advance.

 

3.  The official placing of field crop entries will be posted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009.

 

4.  Premiums will be issued on Sunday, November 8, 2009 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.  All field crop entries not removed

     during this period will become the property of the National Peanut Festival and Fair.

 

5.  No admission tickets or passes will be issued for field crop exhibitors.

 

6.  Established class with less than 3 entries will receive premiums at the discretion of the judges.  Entries into a non-

     listed class with less than 3 total entries will receive a maximum premium of $3.00.

 

7.  Plaques are awarded to Class 01 (peanuts) and Class 05 (cotton) winners.  Pictures of these winners and class

     sponsors are required.

 

CLASS 01 – PEANUTS

Best Arrangement (quality and quantity).  The arrangement should be in a bouquet with vines tied and tap roots clipped to better exhibit the peanuts.  The arrangement should consist of peanut plants harvested from a 3 – 4 foot length of a single row.
