Through enabling act 1122, passed during the regular session of the 1969 Legislature, the Agriculture Board is co-sponsor of this year’s National Peanut Festival and Fair, and pays a portion of the premiums, prizes and awards.

13th Annual Breeding Boer Goat Show

Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 12:00 Noon

Show Judge: TBA

1.  Show will be sanctioned by The American Boer Goat Association and their rules shall govern.  The judge for the

     show will come from the association approved judges list.

 

2.  Classes will be provided for both Percentage and Full Blood Boer Goats.

 

3.  Base date for the show is November 7, 2009.

 

4.  All entries on official entry forms must be submitted to the National Peanut Festival, 5622 US Hwy 231 South,  

Dothan, AL 36301 and postmarked by October 1, 2009 Payment of Fees must be included with entry forms.  Entries will not be accepted by fax or e-mail.

 

5.  Entry fee is $10 per animal, plus a $5 Pen Fee (including Tack Pens) payable to the National Peanut Festival.

 

6.  The animal birth date and registry number must be included on entry forms.

 

7.  Alabama Health rules shall be observed.  ALL goats must have an official health certificate issued by an accredited

     veterinarian, certifying the animals to be free from symptoms of contagious and/or infectious diseases.  Certificate

     must be issued within 30 days of show.

 

8.  The barn will be open for goats to arrive at 12 Noon on Friday, November 6, 2009.

 

9.  Check-In will be from 12 Noon on Friday, November 6, 2009 until 10 P.M.  A last minute check-in will be held at 8

     A.M. on Saturday.  Show books will close at 8 A.M.  Youth Meat Goat Show starts at 9 A.M.

 

10.  Exhibitors quarters must be kept clean.

 

11.  All pens will be set up and have first wood shavings.  NO PENS ARE TO BE REARRANGED.

 

12.  Animals will be released after completion of the Boer Goat Show.

 

**Once animals are unloaded, trailer must be taken to the designated area.  Trailers left outside designated area will be towed.

 

Note:  Please read rules carefully, there have been some changes made for this years’ shows.  The National Peanut Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes, and they will be posted at ring side the day of the show.

Requirements for Goat Parade:

 

1.  Your goat must be under control at all times.

 

2.  The goat must be identifiable (tags or tattoos) and included on

      your health certificate.

 

3.  The goat does not have to be entered in any other class in the

     show.

 

4.  No entry fee.

 

5.  Enter at check-in.
